Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) have been big sellers on the automotive market for quite some time now. In the past, buying a SUV meant speaking to the Chevy or Jeep dealer. In the last few years though the number of SUV dealers has gone up immensely. A crossover SUV is built on a car platform by has many of the features of the original SUV. They have a more comfortable ride and lots of useable room inside. They also get better gas mileage than the older models.

These cars are very big sellers today, especially the compact segment. They come in all shapes and sizes. The larger ones will seat eight while the smaller hold five people. Just about every car manufacturer has a crossover SUB model on the market today. This includes makers we never would have thought of ten years ago such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus.

Suburban Utility Vehicles can be very expensive, upwards of 40,000 dollars and being much more than for the more trendy manufacturers. There are still several every goods ones available thought for less than $30,000. These include the Honda 3010, Suburau Outback, Buick Enclave,Chevy Transverse, Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Murano. On the very low end of the price spectrum, you can often get the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage for under 25,000 dollars.

These cars are great for families and free parents from that minivan image of a soccer mom. Dads are proud to drive these also. Another nice thing about most of these is that driving them is so easy in any conditions as they almost all have front wheel drive and many have 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive options.

Crossover SUVs are the car to drive right now and almost every car maker has gotten in on the crossover SUV game and because of this they come in all price ranges, they are made by both domestic and import car makers.

So what makes a crossover SUV more appealing than a van, sport utility vehicle or station wagon? Style for one thing. They are more stylish than a mini van and therefore young hip parents who were driving small sports cars can still maintain some style about themselves while gaining extra room. A lot of crossovers SUVs have a lot of the same features that sport utilities and vans have.

Many have third row seats in them and the ability to seat 7 or 8. The dodge Journey has two built in coolers in the floor boards of the car as well as seats that easily move backward and forward to make accessing the third row easy.

Crossovers like the Honda CRV and the Subaru Outback (possibly the first crossover vehicle) get great gas mileage compared to larger sport utility vehicles. Buick and Chevrolet have the Acclaim and the Traverse; both are very similar in their appearance with the Buick model having a few more luxury amenities to it than the Traverse.

One very sleek looking crossover is the Lincoln MKT. The MKT is being called on of Lincoln’s best vehicles in several years. Crossover SUVs can be priced anywhere from 19,000 for a base model Hyundai Tucson or Jeep Compass to well over 40,000 for a Lincoln MKT with all of the bells and whistles. Crossover SUVs are a great choice for any driver!
